²⁷ So he sent a jailer straight away with orders to bring John’s head. He went and beheaded him in the prison, ²⁸ brought the head on a dish, and gave it to the girl. The girl gave it to her mother.

²⁹ When John’s followers heard about it, they came and took his body, and buried it in a tomb.
